Torque control programs for factories in Vietnam: Snap-on and CDI tools, testers and calibration

A torque control program has three parts: the right torque tools for each joint, a tester to verify them on the floor, and a calibration schedule that keeps every certificate in date. Lost in HCM supplies Snap-on and CDI torque tools and electronic torque testers from stock in Vietnam, rents testers for audits and ramp-up, and coordinates ISO 6789 calibration through an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory.

Calibration: what ISO 6789 expects

  • Standard. ISO 6789-1:2017 (requirements and conformance) and ISO 6789-2:2017 (calibration with uncertainty). Type I = indicating tools (dial, electronic), Type II = setting tools (click, preset).
  • Interval. The default recalibration interval in ISO 6789 is 12 months or 5,000 cycles, whichever comes first; high-cycle production lines often shorten this to 6 months or use in-house checks between certificates.
  • Accuracy classes. Typically ±4% for Type II click wrenches, ±3% or better for indicating wrenches, ±6% for torque screwdrivers below 10 N·m; check the tool’s specification.
  • Evidence. An ISO/IEC 17025-accredited certificate for tools that affect product conformity; an in-house verification record (using a calibrated tester) between certificates.

Program services

  • Tool selection and standardisation across cells; part-number mapping from your parent company’s list.
  • Torque tester rental for audits, ramp-up and in-house verification — weekly or monthly, certificate included. Request tester rental
  • Calibration scheduling
  • Tool control so calibrated tools stay identified and traceable — tool control systems.
  • Repair and re-certification of Snap-on and CDI torque tools.

Rent, buy or both?

Buy the wrenches and screwdrivers — they are production tools. Rent the bench-top tester until the tool count justifies owning one (usually above 40–50 torque tools), then buy through rent-to-own. Reference testers you own go to the accredited lab annually; the rental tester covers you meanwhile.

FAQ — torque control

How often must torque wrenches be calibrated in a Vietnamese factory?

ISO 6789 sets 12 months or 5,000 cycles as the default; customer or IATF 16949 requirements may be stricter. We set the interval per tool family and send reminders.

Can you calibrate torque tools of other brands?

Yes.

Do Snap-on torque tools come with a calibration certificate?

New Snap-on and CDI torque wrenches and testers ship with a factory certificate of calibration; an accredited certificate can be added before delivery on request.

Can we rent a torque tester for one week?

Yes. Electronic bench-top testers are available on weekly rental with certificate, delivered next business day in HCMC, Binh Duong and Dong Nai.

Which torque tools are in stock in Vietnam?

Adjustable click-type wrenches, TechAngle electronic wrenches, interchangeable-head bodies and heads, torque screwdrivers, CDI wrenches and bench-top testers are stocked; multipliers and pneumatic tools are typically 4–8 weeks.
