From Tân Sơn Nhất to District 1, VSIP, Amata, Hi-Tech Park and Long Thành
Tân Sơn Nhất sits inside the city, 7 km from District 1, which is convenient for the hotel and awkward for the factory: every industrial park is on the far side of the urban core. This page gives the realistic door-to-door times, the ride options and what they cost in 2025–2026, so you can decide between a Grab, a company car and the metro before you land.
Terminals in 2025–2026
- T2 — all international arrivals and departures at Tân Sơn Nhất.
- T3 — opened 19 April 2025; Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, VASCO and Vietravel domestic flights (Vietnam Airlines’ Côn Đảo, Rạch Giá and Cà Mau flights stay at T1).
- T1 — Vietjet domestic and the small routes above.
- Long Thành International (Đồng Nai, ~40 km east) — first flights December 2025; scheduled to take all long-haul international, cargo and new international routes from 1 December 2026. Regional Asian flights are expected to stay at Tân Sơn Nhất for now. Check your ticket’s airport code (SGN vs LTA) from late 2026.

| GrabCar 7-seat / GrabCar Plus / GrabSUV | Same lane | 180,000–300,000 VND | Plus = newer car, 20–30% premium; use 7-seat for two people with instrument cases. |

| Xanh SM (VinFast EV taxi) | App or taxi rank | 150,000–250,000 VND | Metered: 34,400 VND first 2 km, then ~16,500 VND/km; quiet, clean, English in app. |

Airport to the industrial parks: times and fares
| Destination | Distance | Off-peak by car | Peak (07:00–09:00, 16:30–19:30) | Grab / taxi estimate | Route |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| District 1 (Bến Thành) | 7 km | 20–30 min | 40–60 min | 150,000–250,000 VND | Trường Sơn → Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa |
| Thảo Điền (An Khánh ward) | 13 km | 30–40 min | 50–70 min | 200,000–320,000 VND | Phạm Văn Đồng → Sài Gòn bridge |
| VSIP I (Thuận An) | 20 km | 45–60 min | 70–100 min | 300,000–420,000 VND | Phạm Văn Đồng → National Route 13 |
| VSIP II (Thủ Dầu Một / Bình Dương New City) | 38 km | 60–80 min | 90–120 min | 450,000–650,000 VND | Route 13 → Mỹ Phước–Tân Vạn |
| Amata City Biên Hòa | 30 km | 60–75 min | 90–120 min | 400,000–550,000 VND | Phạm Văn Đồng → Route 1A / Võ Nguyên Giáp |
| Saigon Hi-Tech Park (Thủ Đức) | 22 km | 45–60 min | 70–100 min | 300,000–450,000 VND | Phạm Văn Đồng → Võ Nguyên Giáp (ex-Hanoi Highway) |
| Long Thành (airport / Long Đức, Amata Long Thành) | 45 km | 60–80 min | 90–130 min | 550,000–750,000 VND + expressway toll | HCMC–Long Thành–Dầu Giây expressway |
Tolls: the HCMC–Long Thành–Dầu Giây expressway charges cars by distance (budget 50,000–110,000 VND per direction to Long Thành, verify current rates); the Long Thành ferry is not relevant for cars. Grab quotes do not include expressway tolls — the driver adds them at the end, so ask for the receipt. The Biên Hòa–Vũng Tàu expressway, opening in phases, is cutting Long Thành–Vũng Tàu times but does not change the airport-to-park legs above.
Metro Line 1 as an airport connection
Line 1 (Bến Thành–Suối Tiên, 14 stations, 19.7 km, 05:00–22:00, trains every 8–12 minutes) does not reach the airport — Line 2 to Tân Sơn Nhất is years away. It is useful once you are in District 1: Bến Thành to Thảo Điền is 12 minutes, to Thủ Đức 20 minutes and to the Hi-Tech Park station about 25 minutes; the Suối Tiên terminus and Long Bình depot sit beside the park’s eastern gate. Fares are 7,000–20,000 VND per ride, 40,000 VND for a day pass, 300,000 VND monthly. Feeder buses from each station cost 5,000 VND. For an engineer at Samsung, Intel, Nidec or Jabil living near a station, it is the most predictable commute in the city; the last 10–25 minutes from station to factory gate is a shuttle or GrabBike.
Practical rules
- Book the Grab after you clear customs, not before — the app cancels if you take longer than 5 minutes to reach the lane.
- Type the plant’s full address in Vietnamese (copy it from the plant admin) rather than the park name; VSIP alone points to the wrong gate.
- Arriving after 22:00? Fares rise 20–40% and drivers to Bình Dương or Biên Hòa are scarce; a pre-booked car is worth it.
- Instrument cases count as luggage: for anything over 30 kg or a Pelican case, book a 7-seat. If the equipment is rented from us, we deliver straight to the gate — see how rental delivery works.
- Rain between May and November floods Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh, Võ Nguyên Giáp and the Thảo Điền streets for an hour; allow 30 extra minutes on stormy afternoons.
FAQ — airport transfers
Is Grab available at Tân Sơn Nhất and where do I meet the car?
Yes. Book in the app once you have luggage, then follow the “ride-hailing pick-up” signs to the designated lane outside T1/T2/T3. Drivers cannot stop at the door.
How much is a taxi from the airport to VSIP I or Amata?
Budget 300,000–420,000 VND to VSIP I and 400,000–550,000 VND to Amata City Biên Hòa by GrabCar or Xanh SM in 2025–2026, more at night or in rain. Company cars are standard for plant staff.
Can I take Metro Line 1 from the airport?
No — Line 1 starts at Bến Thành in District 1. Take a car or bus 109 to Bến Thành, then the metro east to Thảo Điền, Thủ Đức or the Hi-Tech Park.
Which flights move to Long Thành?
From 1 December 2026 long-haul international flights, cargo and newly opened international routes are scheduled to use Long Thành; regional and domestic flights stay at Tân Sơn Nhất for now. Confirm on your booking.
Do drivers accept cards?
Grab and Xanh SM charge the card in the app. Metered taxis take cash, and increasingly VietQR bank transfer. Keep 300,000–500,000 VND for tolls and tips if the driver pays them.
Equipment landing at the same time as you?
Rental instruments from our Ho Chi Minh City stock reach VSIP, Amata, Thủ Đức and Long Thành the next business day with VAT e-invoice and calibration certificate, so nothing has to ride in your luggage.
