Equipment solutions for FDI companies setting up in Vietnam

Lost in HCM is the equipment partner for foreign-invested companies opening or expanding factories, labs and offices in Vietnam. We rent and sell test equipment, torque and hand tools, EHS instruments and metrology-lab fit-out, coordinate ISO/IEC 17025 calibration, and handle the Vietnamese paperwork — VAT e-invoices, CO/CQ, HS codes — so your team can focus on the start-up date.

What a new site in Vietnam actually needs

Most FDI plant-setup teams arrive with a parent-company equipment list and three surprises: import lead times of two to three months for anything not stocked in Vietnam, a finance department that will only reimburse costs backed by a Vietnamese VAT e-invoice, and auditors who want calibration certificates before the first shipment leaves the dock. Our FDI solutions are built around those three facts.

Six solution areas

  • 1. Factory setup checklistA phased equipment list — utilities and ESD, incoming QC, line test, EHS, tool control, calibration — with rent-vs-buy guidance for each item during ramp-up. Open the factory setup checklist
  • 2. Metrology lab setupReference standards, calibrators, environmental control and the ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / ISO 17025 evidence trail for an in-house measurement room. Plan your metrology lab
  • 3. EHS equipmentGas detectors, noise and light meters, thermal cameras, electrical-safety testers and the monitoring gear a Vietnamese EHS audit expects to see. See EHS equipment
  • 4. Tool controlFoam-shadowed tool storage, visual control cabinets and FOD-prevention programs for aerospace, automotive and electronics lines. Tool control systems
  • 5. Torque controlSnap-on and CDI torque wrenches, electronic torque testers and a calibration schedule that keeps every fastener within spec and every certificate in date. Torque control programs
  • 6. Procurement & import guideHS codes, import duty and VAT, CO/CQ, e-invoices under Decree 123/2020, export-processing-zone exemptions and realistic lead times — written for the procurement lead who has never bought in Vietnam before. Read the procurement and import guide

Rent first, buy when the line is stable

During the first 90 days most sites do not know their final utilisation. Renting oscilloscopes, analyzers, power supplies and calibrators from local stock removes the import wait, keeps cash for the line, and can be converted to purchase credit later. See rental equipment and rent-to-own terms.

Where we deliver

FAQ — FDI equipment solutions

  • Can you work with our head-office procurement team before the Vietnamese entity is registered?Yes. We can scope and quote in USD to the parent company and hold rental stock; the contract and VAT e-invoice are issued once the Vietnamese entity has its tax code.
  • Do you supply only test equipment, or the whole factory? We focus on measurement, test, torque, tool-control and EHS equipment plus metrology-lab fit-out. For machinery, cleanrooms or utilities we introduce vetted partners and coordinate delivery windows.
  • Can we get one invoice for rentals, purchases and calibration?Yes. Rentals, purchases and loaner instruments can be consolidated on one monthly VAT e-invoice per legal entity, itemised the way your ERP needs.
  • Which languages do you support on site?Vietnamese and English on every visit; Japanese-friendly support is available for scoping calls and documents.
  • Is equipment for an export-processing enterprise (EPE) handled differently?Yes. Sales to an EPE can be treated as on-the-spot export with 0% VAT and the enterprise’s fixed-asset imports may be duty-exempt; we prepare the paperwork with your customs broker. See the procurement and import guide.
